Police Cheif Defends Cow Shootings

Early last week, two steers had escaped a trailer and instead of rallying them up, Gatineau police shot and killed both animals. Luc Beaudoin, Gatineau's deputy police chief supports and defends how his officers handled the situation. A video was released of two officers firing their handguns at least ten times at close range to take down one of the animals.

I personally find this revolting. I don't believe that they made the right decision on shooting the Innocent animals. Waiting for animal control would have been a better option. Attempting to contain the animal would have made more sense as well. Supporting the move the officers made doesn't make sense to me.

I believe this issue needs to be brought up and spoken to involving saving these animals. The fact that the animal escaped from the trailer is the first problem. They need to make sure that the trailer is secured and that o matter how hard the cows try. they will not be able to escape. Secondly, even if they do escape, they need to be able to corner the animals and get them back into the trailer without harming them. There are many possible solutions to do this without killing the animals, these officers definitely chose the wrong one.
